Goal $1,000.00

Welcome to Wesley’s page and checking on our story and considering a donation.

For those of you new to our story, we found out two years ago when Wesley was 2 that he has Severe Hemophilia A, a potentially life threatening bleeding disorder. He stopped walking and despite various visits to the pediatrician and specialists that took X- rays of his foot he looked all normal on the outside. The issue you don’t see with hemophilia are the spontaneous bleeds that can occur at any time internally. The Orthopedist that he had seen prescribed some extra strength ibuprofen, a blood thinner, which resulted in his internal bleed manifesting itself as a blue foot. The blue foot was just all his blood pooling in the lowest spot, which resulted in his amazing  pediatrician to get us into Seattle Children’s Hospital immediately. Within hours, determinant lab results were back letting us know that Wesley would have to deal with this bleeding disease for the rest of his life.

The risk of injury and bleeding is always with us, but we have been blessed with amazing healthcare providers, huge advances in medicine and a community who advocates to ensure healthcare, insurance and medicine is always available to Wesley. This community is also what helps us parents learn, advocate and deal with a disease we knew were little about beforehand.

The Bleeding Disorder Foundation of Washington (BDFW) empowers parents, and kids/ adults with bleeding disorders to live their best life! They have made a huge difference not only in our life but the lives of many.

Every donation counts & together we can make a difference.
